Istanbul/Islamabad, 18 September 2018 - Pakistan International Airlines (PIA), the national flag carrier of Pakistan and one of the largest airlines in the Asia Pacific region, successfully migrated its passenger service systems (PSS) to Turkish IT provider Hitit Computer Services. The migration from Sabre took place from the night of 11th to 12th September. According to PIA, all the executive teams and employees had been working very closely with the Hitit team on a very tight schedule, to complete this process smoothly. The flexible and new generation IT system from Hitit is designed to grow PIA’s passenger volume in the region.
In April 2018 Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) chose the complete Crane PSS product suite to replace Sabre. Crane PSS includes reservations and ticketing solutions as well as check-in and departure control, operational planning, and accounting. Over the past five months, both parties managed the complex process of migrating PIA to the new system. Thousands of people from PIA and its agencies have been trained during the transition period.
From the morning of the 12th of September, PIA reservations, inventory control, ticketing and check-in procedures, flight operations, scheduling, and revenue management are processed by Hitit’s Crane solution suite.
PIA Chief Systems Officer Kashif Rehman Rana said: “Our new IT solutions partner offers innovation and convenience for our customers. Rana has instructed PIA teams to remain available around the clock for a smooth and swift transfer in all relevant areas of the airline. Hitit’s system will improve the PIA website functions and make online bookings easier.
