Hitit was founded 28 years ago by two women who set out to write their own story in the field of airline and travel technologies. Today, we offer software solutions and services to more than 60 airlines around the world in passenger services, operations, accounting, travel solutions, merchandising, and cargo. Founding a technology company in the aviation industry was something unheard of back in the 90s. Today, we are a company where 35 percent of employees, 50 percent of the Board of Directors, and 65 percent of the Executive Team are women. With these rates above the world averages, we are shown as an example not only in Türkiye but also in the world. Diversity, equality and inclusiveness are in Hitit's DNA. We reflect this characteristic in our employment rate, employment policies and social responsibility, and because of this philosophy, Hitit has been able to maintain a global position in aviation. We have embraced change and turned it into an advantage which helps us grow even more each day. Hitit is flying high because our team supports each other through every challenge!

A recent study shows a gender disparity in STEM

According to recent research, only five out of 1,000 girls under the age of 15 want to work in information technology. For boys, this rate is 15%. This gender gap is even more pronounced in other fields related to STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics). For example, the rate of men working in machine learning is 88%, while the rate of women is only 12%. Similarly, only 25% of mid-level management positions in S & P's 500 companies and major technology companies are held by women. Hitit is committed to reducing these inequalities through its educational initiatives. We train women in STEM fields through the associations and platforms we are a member of. We also support young women in internship programs and contribute to their development by providing mentorship and scholarship opportunities.

A better world starts with us

2022 has been an important milestone for us. In addition to our airline and travel IT solutions, social projects and sustainability agenda, Hitit also went public this year. Hitit has the highest ratio of female managers among the companies that went public in the software sector in Türkiye. As the CMO of Hitit, I believe that it is our duty to be an example to the next generation and unite for a better world. We are very lucky to have a community at Hitit where equality may seem normal. However, we want to carry this to the next generations. There is a lot going on in the world, and we have a responsibility to set an example and lead the way to a better future. 

Hitit joins 25by2025 Initiative

Last but not least, we are proud to be a signatory of the 25by2025 initiative, launched by IATA, the international organization of the aviation industry. The initiative aims to bring the representation of women in the aviation industry to at least 25 percent by 2025.

Hitit recognizes that gender diversity is essential for businesses to thrive and is committed to promoting opportunities for women in the travel industry. Hitit’s team is already 35 percent female, and the company is committed to increasing that number in the coming years. 

The 25by2025 initiative is an important step towards gender equality in the aviation industry, and we are proud to be part of it. By working together, we can create a more diverse and inclusive industry that benefits everyone.
