Over more than 30 years in the aviation industry, I have gained valuable experience across a wide range of disciplines within an organization that has played a leading role in shaping both Turkish and global aviation. In my career, including my most recent role as Vice President of International Relations and Alliances at Turkish Airlines, one observation became increasingly clear: if aviation is to continue growing and remain passengers’ preferred mode of travel, collaboration across the industry must become even stronger.

The partnerships airlines establish through codeshare agreements, interline and SPAs, alliance memberships, joint networks, loyalty program collaborations and strategic commercial agreements enable carriers to offer seamless travel experiences that transcend geographical boundaries. Likewise, the relationships airlines build with airports, ground handling companies, agencies, GDS providers, payment service providers, technology companies and a wide range of travel-related partners including hotels, car rental companies, insurance providers and transfer services form the foundation of an ecosystem that drives the industry forward.

Over the past decade, one of the most critical dimensions of these partnerships has undoubtedly been the development and strengthening of airlines’ technological infrastructure. From passenger service systems and operational planning to accounting, cargo management, airline retailing, and agency connectivity, a successful and sustainable digital transformation journey has become more than a competitive advantage; it has become an industry imperative. This reality is reflected in virtually every major industry gathering. Whether within airline alliances or at conferences organized by IATA and other aviation organizations, two themes consistently dominate the discussions: digital transformation and enhancing the passenger experience in an increasingly digital world.

The Right Technology Partner: A Strategic Ally

Today, this reality is evolving even further. We are entering a new era in which AI is transforming nearly every aspect of aviation, from decision-making processes and operational efficiency to revenue optimization and personalized passenger experiences. It is no longer possible to think about the future of aviation independently of AI, data and advanced technologies. As a result, the role of a technology partner has become more critical than ever. Today, a strong technology partner is no longer merely a systems provider; it must be a strategic ally that understands an airline’s future direction, anticipates its needs, supports its transformation journey, and creates value together with the airline.

After spending many years on the airline side of the industry, I began a new chapter in 2026 by joining the technology side of aviation. Although I have only recently completed my first six months at Hitit, I quickly found myself at the center of aviation technology, working within an organization that actively contributes to shaping the industry's future. During this short period, I have had the opportunity to visit numerous airlines across different regions and witness first-hand the strong relationships Hitit builds with its partners; relationships founded on trust, mutual understanding and shared value creation.

I am proud to be part of a company that does not refer to airlines as “customers,” but defines them as “partners”; a company that sees this relationship as a journey of mutual value, trust, and shared growth. In the second half of 2026, we will continue to listen closely to our partners, understand their needs firsthand, and improve their experience by developing the right solutions together.

Having spent most of my career within airlines, I can confidently say that working alongside a technology company fully dedicated to its partners creates tremendous value. At Hitit, we strongly believe that maintaining continuous dialogue with our partners is essential to ensuring that the services we provide and the solutions we develop truly address their needs. Combining deep industry knowledge with technological expertise, our teams work closely with airlines to deliver innovative, flexible and sustainable software solutions that support their long-term goals.

As Partner Experience Advisor, I am excited to play a role that focuses on listening to our partners, understanding their challenges and collaborating with teams across Hitit to continuously improve their experience. Recently, Hitit celebrated its 32nd anniversary; and as of 2026, I am completing my 32nd year in aviation. This meaningful coincidence makes my journey at Hitit even more special. As Nelson Mandela once said, “It always seems impossible until it’s done.” It is a great source of pride to be part of the Hitit team, which has achieved remarkable success in technology and brought many “firsts” to life.
